Overview

Glide beneath the towering walls of Dark Canyon in Big Bend Ranch State Park and immerse yourself in rugged west Texas beauty on the Big Bend’s most poplar half-day adventure. This trip is suitable for families, groups, first-timers, and those of all ages and abilities!

Itinerary

This 4 hour tour meets twice daily at 8:00am/8:30am or at 1:00/1:30 at our office in Terlingua or in Lajitas at the General Store. Once we meet and transfer to the river guests will be given all necessary safety and boating equipment and will receive a safety speech covering the river and paddling techniques needed to navigate this mellow and stunning section of the Rio Grande.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation cancellation more than 2 weeks before trip date receives a refund minus 10% of trip cost. Less than two weeks before trip date forfeits 50% of trip cost. A cancellation within 24hrs or a “no-show” on the day of the trip will result in full-payment and forfeit any refund.

Deposit Required, remainder to be charged 24hrs prior to trip.

Craft

Canoes and hardshell sit on top kayaks will be the standard for this low flow day trip. When flows are sufficient trips will be done in rafts, though this is less common and groups should be prepared for canoeing.

Participants

Well suited for families and first-timers and we welcome paddlers of all ages and abilities, with a minimum age of 5 years old. You should be in normal good health and prepared for the moderate exertion of paddling and possible swimming.
