When we opened our doors in 1976, we stood out amongst the ragtag group of early rafting companies for our ambition and professionalism, and that forward-looking view on safety, outdoor recreation, education and environmentalism has made us who we are today. What started as a two-man enterprise in a lonely ghost-town in far West Texas soon found itself pioneering western whitewater on rivers such as the Salt River, the Arkansas, and the Rio Grande—while even further flung we explored the mighty Usumacinta in southern Mexico and Guatemala and the wilds of the Arctic Circle in Alaska. A hand painted wooden sign proudly (if not cheekily) hung above our ghost-town office that read “World Headquarters”.
